Outdoor Education - Educational Funding

2020-21

Pavilion

for nature-based learning

In the Spring of 2020, CPSF funded the construction of an Outdoor Educational Pavilion on property recently acquired adjacent to the school. The pavilion provides shelter for the very active outdoor education program offered to all grade levels.

Research has shown that outdoor education, sometimes referred to as nature-based education or place based education is beneficial to children in countless ways. When students spend meaningful, regular time outdoors, they become more excited about their learning and develop into life-long learners connected to the natural world. The benefits of learning outside transfer to the indoor classroom where teachers report that their students tend to be calmer and more engaged with classroom materials following time spent outdoors in nature.
